Abstract

Cysts of the pericardium are rare, but in recent years an increasing number of the so-called “spring water” or coelomic cysts of the pericardium have been reported, particularly in the American literature. So far approximately forty-five cases proved at operation are on record. Most authors emphasise that these pericardial cysts have certain distinct anatomical features. (1) A thin-walled, unilocular cyst. (2) Lining of mesothelium or endothelium. (3) Clear fluid.
