Abstract
Thus far, interactive staff training (IST) has been used to assist program committees, comprised of staff, who are developing user-friendly rehabilitation programs within their agency for consumers with psychiatric disabilities. We believe, however, that IST has even greater potential for facilitating the development of psychosocial services. Some of the potentials include: Using the program committee as the point of entry for future, yet unforeseen, psychosocial innovations. Helping teams from different agencies work together to provide an integrated rehabilitation program. Helping staff members join with consumers and family members to develop user-friendly and consumer-relevant programs. Helping rehabilitation teams that serve other populations (e.g., persons with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, or physical disabilities).
