Abstract

A spreading condition for a finite volume of liquid on a horizontal cylindrical fiber, as well as an expression for the thickness of the thin film (<10 3 Å) of the spread liquid, is derived. The distortion produced by gravity in the thickness of the thin film is also estimated in terms of a dimensionless number that compares the gravity energy with the van der Waals energy.
