Abstract

The Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) is actively involved in harmonising the reporting of adverse events that are linked to medical treatment. This is a complicated area, as reflected by the number of CIOMS working parties required to deal with adverse event-related issues. Dr Win Castle, as the co-chair of these working parties, has been closely involved with these efforts. During IIR Ltd’s meeting on ‘Collecting, Managing and Presenting ADR Information’ [London, UK; February 1996], Dr Castle shared her views on the overall progress that has been made by CIOMS, and the current status of working group ideas.
