Abstract

ABSTRACTThis work aimed to identify the legacy left by the 2014 World Cup in Brazil regarding tourism development and urban mobility. A qualitative research was performed using descriptive statistics to assist discussion. Data were gathered from the the Brazilian Government and Fédération Internationale de Football Association – FIFA. Results pointed out that foreseen investments were not fulfilled. Failure to carry out all the projects and actions judged necessary and justified by the mega-event confirmed the research hypothesis that expenditures were underestimated and the magnitude of benefits of the expected legacy was overestimated.
