Abstract
In brief Some researchers have estimated that more than 20 million children are participating in community-sponsored sports programs. In this round-table discussion a radiologist an orthopedist, a pediatrician, a psychiatrist, and an athletic trainer discuss the impact of children's increasing participation in organized sports. Among the topics reviewed are training and overuse injuries, the role of sports medicine in the primary care of active children, and the effects of psychological pressures from peers, parents, and coaches.
