Abstract
On October 18, this newspaper published an article entitled "How to Look at Koyama Chire's Challenge" by Mr. He Dong, and thereby initiated a discussion on that topic. This discussion has enjoyed enthusiastic response from our readership. On the day after the article was published (October 19), this paper's News and Commentary Department began to get letters, and by October 28, when editing of the column was terminated, we had received a total of 180 submissions. These came from various regions nationwide as well as from the PLA and armed police units. The writers included workers, cadres, peasants, employees in foreign enterprises, PLA fighters, and students in colleges and middle schools.
