Abstract

Since the arrival of COVID-19, the pandemic has had a huge impact on industries around the world, including the sports events industry. While many sporting events worldwide were – and continue to be – impacted by cancellations or postponements due to COVID-19, the long-lasting effects, both economic and non-economic, are still being studied. In order to avoid the economic or noneconomic losses from this pandemic, sports event organizers will benefit from learning the new concept of COVID-19 risk management, as this will teach them how to deal with the risks surrounding this pandemic. The new concepts include having high sensitivity and quick responses, implementing precautions for all to create a clear environment without the COVID-19 virus (and its variants), developing pandemic measures and collaboration with event stakeholders, and paying attention to innovation. Finally, event organizers should cooperate with different authorities to redefine sport events and dedicate new experiences to inspire event stakeholders.
