Abstract
Abstract The variation of the temperature along the pumping tube of a vessel with superfluid liquid helium appears to be rather complicated. Experiments with an open as well as with a closed pumping valve have been performed, giving quite different results. Local maxima and minima are observed when the evaporating gas is pumped out. The results are qualitatively described by means of evaporation and recondensation.
