Abstract

We consider the renormalizable Abelian Chern–Simons field theory matter in 2+1 dimensions which is claimed to be an effective model for anyon Hign-T c superconductivity. It is shown that a second-order phase transition occurs to a phase with nonzero anomalous v.e.v <ψψ>≠0. This phenomenon can be interpreted as a formation of a condensate of Cooper pairs and leads to spontaneous breaking of the gauge invariance accompanied by the appearance of massless fermion excitations.
