Abstract
A series of 111 cases of spontaneous subluxation of the atlanto-axial joint was reviewed.48 males and 63 females were included.Their age ranged from 6 months to 13 years,with an average of 7 years 8 months.All patients presented wry neck with painful movement.the diagnosis was established by openmouth anteroposterior and lateral X-ray film.110 cases were treated by Glisson's traction and 101 of them obtained satisfactory results.The etiology,type,diagnosis and treatment of the disease were discussed.Glisson's traction is supposed to be the simple and safe.Closed reduction by manipulation and other improper treatment are not recommended because of implication dangers of cord injury.
