Abstract

Spontaneous subcapsular renal hematoma is a rare occurrence. We report a 42-year-old male with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis who developed sudden-onset right flank pain. Imaging showed a large subcapsular collection in the right kidney, for which urgent nephrectomy was done due to hemodynamic instability. Histopathology from the nephrectomy specimen was suggestive of pauci-immune glomerulonephritis with crescents. The patient received pulse methylprednisolone followed by injectable cyclophosphamide.
