Abstract

Although cases have been documented describing wires extracorporeal expulsion associated with osteosynthesis, interference screw disengaging from the tibial tunnel in anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, screw migration from the symphysis to the bladder in pelvic fractures and oesophageal perforation from anterior cervical instrumentation, no reports have noted migration of a failed implant after acetabular fractures. In this report, we present a novel case in which an acetabular screw spontaneously migrated 3 years after the surgery, undergoing subsequent transcutaneous expulsion.
