Abstract
In the paper a quantum field model crystal — an infinite system of two-level atoms interacting with continuum modes of electromagnetic field — is proposed. Within the framework of this model the spontaneous transition of the crystal from a singly excited state to the ground state accompanied by emission of one photon is studied.
