Spontaneous emission from a single two-level atom and the radiative correction to the final state

Abstract

By using a modified Robertson projection technique exact equations of motion for expectation values of atomic population inversion and dipole moment operators are derived. A radiative correction to the unperturbed ground state expectation value of the population inversion operator is obtained in the Born and Markov approximation if no long-time limit approximation is used.
