Abstract

Biomembranes are built up from lipid bilayers with two leaflets that typically differ in their lipid composition. It has been shown that when such an asymmetric lipid bilayer contains at least one flip-flopping lipid species, it relaxes toward a state that minimizes the tension difference between the leaflets [Nano Lett. 19 5011 (2019)].
