Abstract

In this work, a novel phase change material (PW/EG@GO) was prepared. Inspired by the structure of sponge gourd, PW/EG@GO possesses a special core-shell structure with expanded graphite (EG) impregnated with paraffin wax (PW) as the core and graphene oxide (GO) as the shell. The thermal conductivity (2.06 W m−1 k−1) and shape-stability of PW/EG@GO have significantly enhanced due to the synergistic effect of the core-shell structure. And the latent heat of melting and crystallization is 158.5 J/g and 156.1 J/g, respectively. Moreover, PW/EG@GO also shows excellent thermal stability, cycling reliability and temperature regulation capacity. The outstanding thermal performance makes the PW/EG@GO a favorable candidate for applications in thermal energy storage.
