Abstract

Spondylodiscitis due to Trueperella bernardiae: a case report To date, Trueperella bernardiae has rarely been detected in microbiological cultures. However, current literature describes the potential of this pathogen to cause different types of infections. The low prevalence rates may be biased by the use of older detection methods. With new techniques, such as matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) using mass spectrometry, T. bernardiae can be identified more easily. Thereby, the potency of this bacteria is shown. This case report reveals a novel presentation of T. bernardiae in a patient with acute to chronic back pain.
