Abstract

In an earlier paper [J. Acoust. Soc. Amer. 43, 1041–1048 (1968)], an experiment was described in which the noise radiation from flow spoilers inserted within a jet pipe was studied. In the present paper, we present detailed results of this study. We present also an analytical model of spoiler-generated sound that suggests the form of a prediction scheme. Data are presented on level, spectrum, and directivity of the radiated sound power.
