Abstract

Under varieties of typical conditions, the splitting and mating properties of dispersion curves of wave modes in the ω–kz plane are systematically analyzed for wave modes, such as waveguide EH, HE and cyclotron HEc modes with opposite polarity. The obtained results show that such properties depend on the location of an EH mode with respect to two neighboring HE modes (waveguide or cyclotron). Anisotropic modes HE−ma waves are solitary in terms of their particular mating properties.
