Abstract
We study the antiferro (AF), and paramagnetic (P) states with the intermediate valence (IV). We use the mean-field approximation, but with the intra-atomic correlations included rigorously. It is shown that when the ground state is AF it is insulating and the universal ratio of mixing is 50:50, while for P state it is 67:33. The formula for the static susceptibility is also given. Our results compare favourably with the recent experimental data for TmSe.
