Contrast infusion tomography of the spleen, a new diagnostic procedure, provided further morphological information in these patients. The combination of the 2 procedures allowed differentiation of solid and cystic masses. The masses resulted from an epidermoid cyst of the spleen in 2 cases and from an apparently solitary metastasis in a third. In the fourth, the lesion presumably represented a benign calcified granuloma. The usefulness of splenic scintillation imaging and contrast infusion tomography is emphasized for the evaluation of patients with splenomegaly and left upper quadrant lesions.Article HistoryAccepted: June 1970Published in print: Nov 1970 FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited BySeminars in Roentgenology, Vol. 19, No. 4Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, Vol. 9, No. 4Medical Journal of Australia, Vol. 1, No. 5Pseudocysts: Diagnosis in the adult by total body opacificationClinical Radiology, Vol. 28, No. 2The British Journal of Radiology, Vol. 50, No. 595The British Journal of Radiology, Vol. 50, No. 595American Heart Journal, Vol. 92, No. 1Cancer, Vol. 35, No. S3Injury to the spleenInjury, Vol. 3, No. 2The British Journal of Radiology, Vol. 45, No. 531The British Journal of Radiology, Vol. 45, No. 531Recommended Articles RSNA Education Exhibits RSNA Case Collection Vol. 97, No. 2 Metrics Altmetric Score PDF download
