Abstract
Splenic pregnancy is a very rare type of abdominal pregnancy. Here we report a case of hemorrhagic shock caused by splenic pregnancy. A 35-year-old woman was presented to our hospital with left upper abdominal pain for 4 h. Abdominal ultrasonography and computerized tomography showed a nodule in the spleen and seroperitoneum. Operation was performed immediately as the patient showed evidences of hemorrhagic shock. A hemorrhagic nodule located in the upper pole of the spleen was observed during operation. Histopathology showed that the splenic parenchyma was invaded by chorionic villus and trophoblasts. The patient recovered well and was discharged with no complications on 10 days after procedure. For this rare type of ectopic pregnancy, irregular menstrual periods may lead to misdiagnosis, the possibility should be considered even though the patient showed undefined amenorrhea. An exploratory laparotomy should be performed in time for the diagnosis and treatment.
