Abstract

Using a systematic review methodology following PRISMA guidelines, the study examines the manifestations and significance of the spiritual dimension in ecovillages over the past decade. A total of 1329 articles were screened, and 49 were ultimately included in the final analysis. The findings suggest that people represent spirituality in three distinctive ways—in relation to nature, within community settings, and through individual expressions. The outcomes suggest that spirituality plays a vital role in ecovillage communities, enhancing personal resilience and ecological motivation whilst facilitating a more profound comprehension of sustainability. Recognizing the implications of the spiritual dimension within ecovillages is crucial to advance the knowledge and promotion of sustainable and regenerative lifestyles.
