Abstract
Julia D. Emblen, RN, PhD, was chair of nursing, Trinity Western University, Langley, British Columbia, Canada, when she wrote this article. With nineteen years of experience teaching in Christian ADN and BSN nursing educational programs, she is now nursing program director at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon. Perrie Peverall, MMin, has been palliative care chaplain at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, for seven years, and now is director of the spiritual/religious care department. She attends a Mennonite Brethren congregation and volunteers in the areas of speaking, teaching and leading discussion groups.FigureFigure
