Abstract

In an earlier article, I considered the problem of constructing a Dirac operator on a Finsler space from the functional analytic viewpoint. The resulting theory is unwieldy since the Lichnerowicz formula involves curvature terms from a superconnection. The resulting index formula uses the Atiyah-Singer theorem for families, further complicating matters. Because this approach centers on the fibers, I have changed my focus to the pullback tangent bundle sitting over the projectivized tangent bundle or tangent sphere bundle of the Finsler space, depending on the precise type of homogeneity of the Finsler metric.
