Spine Radiographs for Neuromuscular Scoliosis

Abstract

Obtaining quality spine radiographs for patients with severe neuromuscular spinal deformities can be challenging. This report provides the rationale for a seating system that improves the quality of spinal radiographs and makes available our blueprint for constructing such a system. A simple design was created, blueprints were drawn, and the chair fabricated by a local machine shop. The chair described in this report cost $920 for materials and took 40 hours of labor to construct. The seating system described provides excellent support and allows for taking high-quality spine radiographs of patients with neuromuscular scoliosis.
