Abstract

Spin current which is a flow of angular momentum has attracted much attention for the magnetization manipulation and terahertz generation. The commonly used methods to generate spin current are: (1) nonlocal spin injection, (2) spin pumping, (3) spin Hall effect (SHE). Recent developments of an optical technique using femtosecond laser pulses allow us to study the ultrafast spin current transport and its relaxation. SHE is charge-to-spin conversion phenomenon, and vice versa inverse SHE is spin-to-charge conversion phenomenon, which utilizes the heavy metals (like Pt, Ta and W) with strong spin orbit interaction. However, these heavy metals have the conversion efficiency of few %. Therefore, it is necessary to search material or system which can provide enhanced spin-to-charge interconversion with active control for future spintronics devices and its terahertz emission with high amplitude and broad bandwidth.
