Abstract

We have calculated the spin relaxation time of positive muon diffusing by means of tunneling processes among self-trapped states. It is shown that, because of the nearly antiferromagnetic structure, Chromium is very advantageous compared with the case of ferromagnetic Iron to study not only intrinsic diffusion properties but also effect of defect on the muon motion. Temperature dependence of the relaxation time observed by Kossler et al . is well understood in terms of the narrowing by the under-barrier hopping and the coherent motion. This comparison indicates that muon diffusion parameters are similar in Chromium and Iron.
