Abstract
Within the framework of a generalized Heisenberg model, it is shown that under certain conditions the electron spins may couple to phonos by exchange interaction. This process, going beyond the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, is possibly necessary for superconductivity. From such a supposition, criteria for superconductivity are derived which prove to be true for 18 cubic-symmetry metals investigated recently.
