Abstract

Measurements of ∂ M /∂ H for systems of Ni 2+ ions in a rhombic crystalline field are performed in a pulsed magnetic field. The inevitable misalignment of the external magnetic field with respect to the z -axis of a crystal is minimized by a device for adjustment. A magnetic ordering is found in Ni(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O around 42 kOe at initial temperatures T i 's below 2.3 K. The width of the ordered phase is about 8 kOe at T i =1.18 K.
