Abstract

The contributions to the magnetic moments of the triton and ${\mathrm{He}}^{3}$ from the Signell-Marshak and Gammel-Thaler phenomenological spin-orbit potentials have been calculated using the Pease and Feshbach wave functions. The results indicate that the isotopic spin dependence of the spin-orbit potential should be of the form ($3+{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{i}\ifmmode\cdot\else\textperiodcentered\fi{}{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{j}$) and also that the spin-orbit potential contributions are too small by an order of magnitude to account for the approximately 0.2 nm anomalies in the ${\mathrm{H}}^{3}$-${\mathrm{He}}^{3}$ magnetic moments.
