Abstract

Abstract Spin transport in a nonmagnetic metal connected to ferromagnetic injector and detector is theoretically studied. A general expression for spin accumulation signal, which covers from the metallic to the tunneling regime, is derived, and recent spin injection and detection experiments are analyzed. In a superconductor device, the spin accumulation signal is strongly enhanced because superconductors are low carrier systems for spin transport.
