Abstract

We have studied the low-temperature spin-glass magnetic ordering of the ${\mathrm{La}}_{2\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$${\mathrm{Sr}}_{\mathit{x}}$(${\mathrm{Cu}}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{y}}$${\mathrm{Fe}}_{\mathit{y}}$)${\mathrm{O}}_{4}$ system (0.03\ensuremath{\le}x\ensuremath{\le}0.06 and 0.005\ensuremath{\le}y\ensuremath{\le}0.04) by means of magnetic ac susceptibility, dc magnetization, and M\ossbauer spectroscopy. The ordering temperature ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{f}}$ increases with increasing Fe content and at higher Fe concentrations, antiferromagnetic ordering similar to that of ${\mathrm{La}}_{2}$${\mathrm{CuO}}_{4}$ is obtained. The freezing of Fe moments is very rapid as ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{f}}$ is approached. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
