Abstract

The magnetic properties of Co2-xZnxSnO4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) have been systematically investigated. The spin-glass (SG) behavior is observed in Co2SnO4. With increasing x, the SG behavior disappears and recovers again at x = 1. Along with this transformation, the antiferromagnetic (AFM) order in Co2SnO4 is suppressed and replaced by ferromagnetic (FM) order, forming a competition between AFM and FM. This competition behavior will be maximum and SG behavior happens again in CoZnSnO4 (x = 1). Furthermore, the observed SG behavior probably originates from the AFM fluctuation introduced by Sn/Co atomic disorder of B sites in Co2SnO4. In addition, in CoZnSnO4, the nature of SG behavior may be attributed to competition that appears between AFM and FM.
