Abstract

Low field dc magnetic susceptibility measurements on amorphous YFe 2 show a distinct cusp-like peak at T S.G. = 58 K. This result, together with earlier Mőssbauer and neutron scattering measurements, indicates that a true thermodynamic spin-glass transition occurs at T S.G.. In addition, susceptibility and coercive field data are presented which strongly suggest a magnetic freezing or blocking temperature near T = 20 K. This is the first time these two magnetic phenomena have been observed in the same magnetic system.
