Abstract

Abstract Electromagnetic properties of low-lying excited states in 115Sn and 117Sn were studied by means of in-beam and off-beam eγ spectroscopy. Magnetic quadrupole (M2) γ matrix elements between the 1 h 11 2 and 1 g 7 2 quasi-neutron states in the Sn isotopes were found to be reduced by factors gγeff/gγfree = 0.21 ∼ 0.29 over single quasi-particle values. The reduction rates are about the same as those for analogous quasi-proton transitions. There is, however, a finite difference between the renormalization factor geff/gfree for the M2 γ-decays and those for the analogous first-forbidden β-decays.
