Abstract
Neutron spectroscopy has been used to study the spin dynamics of alloys in the series CeRu 2Si 2− x Ge x is a widely studied heavy-fermion compound, while CeRu 2Ge 2 is a ferromagnet with T c = 10 K. The measured quasielastic response is due to longitudinal spin fluctuations of the almost pure |± 5 2 > ground states. The energy widths are found to be strongly wavevector dependent, indicating the importance of intersite correlations. The extrapolated single ion linewidth shows that the strength of the 4f hybridisation decreases with increasing x, with T K ranging from 12 K for x=0.2 to 1.9 K for x = 2.0.
