Abstract
The electronic properties of 3 and 5 atomic (001)-layers of fcc Ni have been calculated self-consistently. The calculated magnetic moments are ordered ferromagnetically and their magnitudes per atom are 0.61μB (surface layer), 0.55μB (subsurface layer) and 0.58μB (central layer) which is close to the experimental bulk value of 0.56μB.
