Abstract

This study presents a solvent-controlled spin coating method that can uniformly synthesize a dense layer of epitaxial AgCN microwires onto various 2D materials. The combination of spin coating and an aqueous ethanol mixture promotes heterogeneous crystal nucleation on 2D material surfaces, which leads to highly aligned, uniform, dense growth of the microwires unlike the previous drop casting methods. Because the spin coated microwires are observable with conventional optical microscopy and removable with simple wet chemistry, we can apply our method to large-area crystallographic mapping of grains in polycrystalline graphene.
