Abstract

The assignment of spins to a number of levels in eveneven nuclei from O/ sup 16/ to Ca/sup 40/ by the measurement of gamma ray angular correlations following the excitation of the levels by inelastic scattering of protons is described. Coincidence gamma-gamma correlations were measured on the cascade from the excited state studied through the first excited state. Direct gamma ray correlations were also measured wherever possible to obtain additional information to ensure unique assignments. The highest level stutlies is at 6.44 Mev. All except one of the levels are stable against particle emission. No attempt was made to measure branching ratios. (C.E.S.)
