Abstract

5 9Co NMR has been studied at 4.2 K and as a function of temperature in the mixed (Nd1−xYx)2Co14B compounds throughout the full substitution range. It was found that the anisotropy of the Nd sublattice determines the canted magnetic structure of the system at 4.2 K up to the threshold Y content of 92%. Above 92% Y, the system switches rapidly to a planar structure which is enforced by the 3d sublattices. Below the threshold Y content, the system undergoes two spin reorientations with increasing temperature: a second-order phase transition from canted to uniaxial state and a first-order phase transition from uniaxial to planar structure.
