Abstract

This paper investigates following Zhang's procedure the study the spin accumulation resulted from the spin Hall effect. The procedure is that firstly the electron distribution is in the absence of the spin-orbital coupling and then the spin-orbit coupling by an anomalous term in current is included. Zhang started with the spin-diffusion equation derived from the Boltzmann transport equation, but this paper begins with the effective mean-free-path model equivalent to the Boltzmann transport equation model. In the calculations, the scattering from the boundary effect is considered, the spin-flip scattering is neglected, and the assumption is unnecessary that the anomalous Hall conductivity is much smaller than the Drude conductivity.
