Abstract

Spiders have been observed on grain sorghum plants throughout the growing season. There is little information in the literature on the economic importance of spiders in crop plants. Information on spider species present, occurrence throughout the growing season, and abundance is presented. Feeding tests, with insects commonly found in sorghum fields, as food, were conducted in the laboratory, and observations on spider feeding in the field were made. From these data it was concluded that spiders play an important role in insect control in grain sorghums.
