Abstract

This paper presents a SPICE-based circuit model for multiconductor lines excited by an incident plane wave. The introduced method allows engineers to calculate field coupling and crosstalk for multiconductor lines directly in circuit simulators without the need for field simulation programs. The presented model is suitable for EMC studies where the voltage response at the loads of the lines can be calculated due to plane wave coupling or due to lumped interference sources. The conductors are divided into cells and represented in terms of lumped elements and controlled sources. The presented model of multiconductor lines can be used in the frequency domain or in the time domain with nonlinear elements. The model validation shows excellent agreement of the results with those obtained with conventional field simulations.
