Abstract

The effects of ground glass joints and rubber connections in the absorption train were studied by the performance of series of ten combustions each under closely controlled conditions provided by a modified method for rapid combustion, which is described in detail. Statistical tests support the assumption that the rubber connections seem responsible for the occasional occurrence of distinctly erroneous and usually high results in both thePregl and the rapid method for the determination of carbon and hydrogen.
