Abstract

The pulsed vacuum laser deposition method is used to fabricate spherical and plane multilayer normal incidence mirrors for soft X-rays. The properties of the mirrors are studied by means of the synchrotron radiation of VEPP-2M accumulator. A reflectivity R = 5 to 7% is obtained for plane multilayer W-C mirrors at an angle of incidence 2.5°, wavelength λ = 60 to 65 Å, with a resolution λ/ Δλ =40 to 50. The theoretical and experimental data are compared. The focusing properties of W-C and Au-C multilayer mirrors deposited on spherical surfaces are investigated. It is shown that the size of a focal point is adequately defined by the divergence of the synchrotron radiation.
