Abstract

A 60-year old female presented with a 6 month history of dizziness, poor balance and reduced visual acuity in the left eye. Neurological examination revealed a left 3rd nerve palsy. CT scans and MRI demonstrated a well-defined mass arising from the left sphenoid wing and cavernous sinus, extending into the pituitary fossa and left orbital apex. The mass demonstrated a high signal on T2-weighted MRI compared with cerebral parenchyma (Fig. 1A). The lesion initially enhanced peripherally on coronal post-contrast T1-weighted MRI (Fig. 1B) and then filled in on 4-minute delayed axial T1-weighted MRI (Fig. 1C).
