Abstract

This sixth edition classic text represents the efforts of Drs. Speroff, Glass, and Kase “to provide both factual knowledge and systematic approaches to clinical problems” as stated in the preface, while maintaining the style and clinical relevance of their first edition in 1973. They have successfully detailed the tremendous growth and rapid progress in reproductive endocrinology. The 32 chapters of the text are divided into four sections: reproductive physiology, clinical endocrinology, contraception, and infertility; these are largely unchanged. The literary updates and cutting-edge information are evidenced by the extensive references and online resources that increase the textbook size by 21%, up to 1,200 pages. Complementary to the comprehensive text is the liberal use of figures, diagrams, algorithms, and flowcharts. Along with the organization of chapter subheadings, key points, and summaries, the clear illustrations provide a logical flow and facilitate retention of material.
