Abstract

To avert a government shutdown and get key provisions into the spending bill before a new Congress is seated this month, Congress and President Biden passed and signed a spending bill for fiscal year (FY) 2023 on Dec. 23. The $1.7 trillion proposed appropriations bill, referred to as an “omnibus,” includes proposed spending for the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors’ (NASADAD) priority programs within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and other federal agencies.
